Five team members completed all eight events at locations across the country from Crawley to Worthing, Brighton and Eastbourne. One of the "fab five", Zarina Shrubb, said "I found the events really enjoyable with the encouragement from spectators, marshals and other runners helping to keep me going, as well as knowing the sponsor money will make such a big difference to so many people. Race for Life is such a great event as everyone can take part and achieve personal goals."
Many of the team have personal experiences of cancer, providing the drive to attempt such a hard goal. Pip Bryant, new to the team last season, said "having grown up with my best friend who lost both her parents to cancer when she was a teenager, it have me the motivation to raise money for cancer research. To be able to run these races with my fellow rugby players has really brought us together as a team. It's been an amazing experience and I'm already looking forward to running in 2012!"
After running their last race in Hastings, the team were joined by Club Chairman Brian Vincent and team sponsor Darren Crabb, for celebration drinks. Chairman of Ladies Rugby Alice Hayes - who also completed the eight runs - said "I'm extremely proud of the team for achieving such a gruelling challenge. We're a diverse team of mixed ages and fitness levels, so each person has pushed themselves whether it be walking, jogging or running. To have raised over £2500 is breathtaking and a real sign of commitment from the team. I'd like to congratulate the ladies who took part and give my thanks to all those who sponsored us. We'll do our best to keep the running going!"
