A SEASON OF SUCCESS FOR WORTHING U14s

Worthing's U14's have much to celebrate with their achievements. Not only do they have a well knitted group of lads who enjoy each other's company both on and off the pitch, they also have great Coaches, led by Jon Forrest, who are all enthusiastic about rugby - and lucky enough to have two young coaches, Elliott Luke and Harry Forrest, who currently play men's rugby.

This aspiring Squad is undefeated the entire season for League games, Friendly games (including Jersey and Surrey teams), Sussex Champions for the 2nd year running, Sussex 1 League Winners, WRFC 7's Champions, and finishing it off with their undefeated tour to Holland.

Haywards Heath 5 v 19 Worthing

Winning all our league games bar one (Haywards Heath) this season meant that we had earned the right to play for the championship in the final against our nemesis and hopefully gain revenge.

The team were ready to play as a tightly knit unit after an evening go-karting in Lancing by way of preparation.

BEACH RUGBY

Yes, beach rugby.

The U13s entered two teams in to the Beach Rugby Festival at West Wittering. The boys played brilliantly. The two teams were entered in two different pools and didn't play each other, but we did play the Worthing Girls! One team reached the Cup Semi-Final and the other the Plate Final.

Brighton U13s v Worthing U13s - Sussex Rugby Youth Finals

Bright and early Worthing turn up at Hove’s neutral ground for the clash of the season. Seven points clear at the top of the table and unbeaten throughout the league, the Worthing boys have everything to play for and everything to lose against the Brighton. The tension is palpable (especially the coaching team) as both squads eye each other as they arrive, with parents and squad members aplenty to lend their support.

The A team are unbeaten in the league and have also gained the maximum amount of bonus points having scored more than four tries in every match.
They will be playing the league final against Brighton at Hove RFC on Sunday March 21st with an 11am kick off.

WOW!!!!!!! What a game and result. Worthing turned up bright and early for a fixture against league leaders and Sussex Champions Brighton. Both teams unbeaten and knowing that the victors would take control of the league. Fortunately after a poor warm up and subsequent verbal attack from the coaches we started well. With both teams hammering each other Worthing took the lead through good work from the forwards and finished by Brandon and duly converted by Jacob. Five minutes later a backs move from a strong Worthing scrum led to Brandon scoring and Jacob converting again 14-0.

Well, the sky looked clearer than it had done for weeks and with the pitches ok’d for play a full squad of Worthing lined up against the formidable Redingsians, unbeaten all season. Lewes v Worthing – Sussex U13’s A League

The second league fixture of the year saw two teams missing key players due to illness and other half term commitments, but nonetheless both teams in blue were fired up and looking for a win. more...
